John was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Delavan where he served as lectern. He was a devoted Alumni of San Jose High School and served on the board.

As a lifelong sports enthusiast, John always found himself as a spectator for many local high school sports teams, the Bradley Braves and his favorite Chicago White Sox. John has never known a stranger and was known by many as an avid softball player, coach, manager, and umpire.

John may have lost his fight with ALS, but he won the eternal victory of life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
