Janice Lee Timm, 84, of Delavan, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 7:21 am, at her home from complications of pneumonia after a 25-year battle with Parkinson's.

She was born October 31, 1933 in Easton to Ralph E. and Margaret Wilcox Whitehead. She married Gene E. "Pete" Timm on December 29, 1957 in Easton, and he survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ralph E. Jr. and Archie Whitehead.

Janice graduated from Easton High School and Illinois Wesleyan University majoring in organ performance and vocal. She taught music in Mount Carroll and Mason City for 11 years. She moved to Delavan, received her Elementary degree from Illinois State University and taught third grade in Delavan for 23 years, retiring in 1989.

Janice started playing the organ at Easton Methodist Church at age 13. She continued playing for various church services and in 1979 became the organist at Delavan Presbyterian Church, soon adding choir director to her responsibilities. Janice played her senior recital at Wesleyan on the Hinners organ that was moved to the Presbyterian Church which she played and loved. She retired in 2007 as music Director Emeritus.

Janice will be especially remembered for her work with the Presbyterian Cherub Choir and her love for children.

She was a member of the Delavan Presbyterian Church and served as an elder. Visitation will be held at her church Friday evening, March 16, 2018 from 5-7 pm. Her funeral will be on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jean Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Delavan Presbyterian Church.
