James C. Pflederer,87, of Morton formerly of Tremont, passed away at 9:12 pm Friday, March 16, 2018 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

He was born November 30, 1930 in Cropsey to Chris B. and Hannah C. Schurter Pflederer. He married Doris Lee Owens on September 2, 1951 in Burlington, IA and she passed away November 28, 2008.

Surviving are two sons, Steven (Barbara) Pflederer of Tremont and Ronald Pflederer of Washington; one daughter, Debra (Bradley) Braker of Morton; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie (Ken) Ober, Joni (Austin) Parker, Jeff (Holly) Pflederer, John (Molly) Pflederer, Kristy (Rob) Williams, Laura (Ryan) Luginbuhl, Lacey (Quintin) Scholl, Lynnae (Jay) Fiechter, Michael Pflederer, and Bryan Pflederer; 21 great grandchildren; three sisters, Leona Ivie and Glenna Pflederer, both of Peoria, and Ilene Hild of Tremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Craig E. and Ted M. Pflederer; and one brother, Chris Pflederer.

James worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Co. in Bartonville for 43 years.

He served in the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class during the Korean War from 1951-1954.

He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Tremont, where he served as a trustee and he also served on the Tremont 702 School Board from 1960-1964.

Jim volunteered at the Midwest Food Bank in Morton, enjoyed golfing, had a passion for flower gardening, and looked forward to meeting his friends at the Morton McDonalds for coffee. He will be remembered as a man of faith, and as a loving father, husband, and grandfather.

His funeral will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Tremont. Ministers of the church will officiate. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Monday at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall and from 9:00-9:45 am Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Tremont. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Midwest Food Bank or Salvation Army.
