Willis R. Rowell, 90, of Tremont, passed away at 10:10 am Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
He was born October 25, 1927 in Tremont to Fred H. and Hannah Zeller Rowell Jr. He married Zenith M. Miller on January 16, 1949 in Peoria, and she passed away May 4, 2014.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Birkmeier of Pekin and Sharilyn Rowell of Morton; one grandson, Rob (Marcia) Dennis of Tremont; five great grandchildren, Leah, Joshua, Hannah, Jesse, and Emma; one sister, Arlene Gates of Tremont.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Betty Ann; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Joshua Birkmeier; one great granddaughter, Grace Dennis; two brothers, Clifford and Leo; two sisters, Wilma Rowell and Violet Hermanson.
Willis worked as an operating engineer and a heavy equipment operator for United Contractor Midwest for 49 years. He also farmed in the Tremont area.
He was a member of Tremont Baptist Church and its men's group and was a member of "GMC 4-wheelers" RV Club. He served as a volunteer for the Tremont Fire Department for 35 years.
He enjoyed woodworking and motor home traveling.
His funeral will be at 10:00 am Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Tremont Baptist Church. Pastor Noah Lee will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
